On the same month in which Apple launch the much awaited iPhone 4, Motorola held a press conference to officially announce the launching of their newest product Droid X. This is Motorola’s latest product that is expected to be the toughest competitor of Apple’s iPhone 4. Will Droid X outshine the newly released iPhone 4? This question is still to be answered. This will surely be an exciting battle between the two flagship models of their respective companies.

If you have plans of buying one and still undecided unto which model between Droid X and iPhone 4 to purchase in the future, the following comparison between Droid X and iPhone 4 might help.

First in line is its processor, both Droid X and iPhone 4 runs on a 1GHz processor.

Second, when it comes to storage, Droid X has the edge over iPhone 4 because of its 8GB onboard memory plus a 16GB microSD card. It can support microSD card up to 32GB and even extendable up to 40GB. The iPhone’s storage capacity is limited only to 16 GB.

Third, when it comes to portability, Apple iPhone 4 has the advantage over Droid X with its 2.3 inches wide and 0.37 inches thick at a weight of only 4.8 oz.

Fourth, talking about connectivity, Droid X’s ability to act as hotspot for up to 5 WIFI devices and having a HDMI output port makes it a winner as compared with the iPhone 4 which doesn’t have this feature.

Next is battery life, Droid X has a slight edge because of its battery being removable ,also talk time is 8 hrs for Droid X while iPhone has 7 hrs talk time. However, when it comes to standby time, iPhone has 300 hrs while Droid X is just 220 hrs.

When it comes to camera, Droid X is said to be the winner because of its 8MP resolution as compared to Apple’s 5 MP. It has also a dual LED flash and a real shutter button. But when it comes to videoconferencing iPhone 4 wins because of its front-facing camera that is very good for video calls. With this we can say that it’s a tie between the two because both have a distinctive feature.

And last but not the least is with regards to display and resolution capacity. Motorola has a 4.3 inch screen which is definitely larger than iPhone 4’s 3.5 inch screen. But because of iPhone 4 having more pixels per inch in its Retina display, we can say that iPhone 4 wins in this category.

Whether iPhone 4 or Droid X wins this battle doesn’t really matter. What matters most is that the consumers who intend to buy these products will be satisfied and happy with their choice. Because of this competition between Apple and Motorola consumers have the assurance that they will always come up with a great product.

So, these aren't exactly the most similar phones ever. The Droid X has Android, a high res 4.3-inch screen, Verizon, and a hump in back. The iPhone 4 has iOS, a higher res 3.5-inch screen, and some of the slimmest smartphone dimensions ever. Sure, they're both flagship handsets for their respective teams, but we'd really rather live in a world where Droid X and iPhone 4 hang out after work for drinks than one where they stab each other in their silicon hearts. Sure, there'd be a bit of banter, but isn't there always between friends? Technology Blogs

How To Unlock or Jailbreak iPhone OS 4.0? iH8sn0w Claims to Have Done it Already!

Apple announced the iPhone OS 4.0 couple of hours ago. While I was expecting one of the hackers to claim aJailbreak iPhone OS 4.0, I wasn’t expecting it so quickly.

iH8sn0w claims to have uncovered an exploit to Jailbreak iPhone OS 4.0 on his iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2G. The keys can be found here and here.

While most other iPhone hacker teams are holding their exploits close to their chest, iH8sn0w plans to release the software to jailbreak iPhone OS 4.0 beta. This move might help the Apple patch the exploit in its final release of iPhone 4.0.

Though hackers have had successfully been jailbreaking all the recent iPhone OS releases,Unlocking iPhone OS has been a challenge after the recent baseband update. There are quite a few iPhone users out there who have updated their software by mistake and now are locked with AT&T. So, I am sure there are thousands out there waiting to hear about Unlock for iPhone OS 4.0on iPhone 3G, 3G S, etc..

While we know it’s been done, we don’t know how it’s done yet. We will have our eyes open and won’t stop sniffing around for more on Jailbreak iPhone OS 4.0.

Have Patience people! Your “How to Jailbreak iPhone 4.0” or “How to Unlock iPhone 4.0” queries will be answered soon!

Update April 09: iH8sn0w denies that he has jail-broken it already but says it is definitely jailbreakble and he is working on it. However, MuscleNerd tweeted and uploaded a video which suggests that the iPhone OS 4.0 Jailbreak has already happened! We can’t wait to hear aboutUnlocking iPhone OS 4.0.

Download Games For iPhone - Best iPhone Download Sites (ASPA Mobile Phone Repair)

Are you looking for a site to download games for your Iphone? There are a lot of sites out there for iPhone Downloads. However, a lot of them have a lot of hidden fees, restricted access, or restricted downloads. So, what are the best sites to download games for Iphones?

Lets first talk real quick about what to look for in bad iphone download sites. The first and most simple issue is having a site that has complex software. You don't want to have to read a manual just to download games to your Iphone. Just check and make sure the site promotes an easy to use program. Generally, the widely used popular sites (that we'll get to in a minute) will have good software.

The second biggest thing to avoid in Iphone download sites is "per download fees," or monthly fees. Obviously, this is no good because you are going to be paying way to much, or be unable to download what you want because of the fees. So, make sure not to use sites that have these fees.

So, what are the best Iphone download sites? The best site I have found for getting Iphone games and other downloads is through iPhone Nova. They don't have either of the pitfalls I described. They also have 24 hour support, DVD to PC software, a huge selection, and tutorials to get started with. So, go here for your iPhone Games for Download.

GeoHot brings beta-jailbreak for iPhone 3GS ("iPhone Repair", unlock, Nokia, Blackberry)

Hi guys, some news forwarded to us and we like to share with you!

The iPhone Dev Team will not be happy with the activities of GeoHot. Who on their own through
their website for a jail break the iPhone 3GS released. You use at your own risk and you have
Windows (not Windows 7) and the latest version of iTunes is required. The iPhone 3GS must run
the 3.0 firmware. GeoHot explains on his website that he usually no tools for the general public,
and shall prefer to wait for the iPhone Dev Team. But in this case he sees no reason why people
should wait for OS 3.1. “So the game is played,” says GeoHot we bring something out, Apple lost it
and we (the hackers so) find new holes.

GeoHot think it makes no sense to wait because this is the last hole “in your iPhone should be.

Next week he is a new one.

The jail break method can be found at purplera1n.com and works as follows:
1. Download the software.
2. Check whether you have the latest version of iTunes installed.
3. Connect your iPhone to normal.
4. Click on ‘Make it ra1n’ and wait.
5. After booting off your Freeze, the Installer application purplera1n.
6. Then you find your own way.

iSMS Text Messaging Replacement for iPhone ("ASPA Mobile", "iPhone Repair"

Newly available via Installer/AppTapp is iSMS, a native text messaging client replacement for the iPhone. iSMS - also called weiSMS, is partially based on WeSMS, a Chinese SMS application, and provides a list of features/enhancemens not found in the standard iPhone SMS application. These lacking features have been high on iPhone owners' lists of gripes with the iPhone.
Though very much a beta, officially only a "preview release", iSMS provides many functions not available when sending text messages on the iPhone through the included interface. The two most prominent of these added features are the ability to send a text message to multiple recipients (or bulk SMS) and the ability to forward received text messages.

The list of major SMS features not normally available on the iPhone which iSMS adds includes the following:

send SMS to multiple recipients
forward received SMS messages
ability to send contact info via SMS
delete messages one at a time
i18n support
smilies/emoticons support
stock message/message template support
iSMS also supports 10 languages, allows for easy call back functionality to text message senders, and
will even show an envelope icon in the status bar when unread text messages are waiting.

The only quickly discernable drawback of using iSMS for your iPhone text messaging is the loss of threaded message viewing. Text messages are instead shown as single messages which reside in separate Inbox and Sent folders. Even if you're bound to the threaded message view found in the standard iPhone SMS application, there's no harm in keeping iSMS installed for those times when you want to send a bulk SMS on your iPhone or forward a text message you received.

iSMS can, as mentioned above, be easily installed via the Installer application on jailbroken iPhones, or can be downloaded via the weiSMS page on Google Code and installed manually via the provided instructions.

iPhone Users Report 3.1.3 Update Problems (unlock, 5.12.01, Green, Poison, Pois0n, blackra1n)

Well it didn't take long to hear from iPhone owners who tried the 3.1.3 firmware update to fix their existing battery problems. Some people are reporting the same problems, if not worse after updating to 3.1.3 from 3.1.2 or earlier iPhone OS versions.

Previously, many users updated to 3.1 software so they could take advantage of MMS functionality on AT&T and found that an unwelcome side effect was shortened battery life on the iPhone 3GS. (Learn how to turn on MMS without updating your 3.0 firmware here. Some have speculated this has something to do with the iPhone losing and acquiring the 3G signal repeatedly which drains the battery.

Others thought it had something to do with the processor running when it shouldn't be, also sucking the last drops of life out of the battery prematurely. Apple even had people run special software on their iPhones to determine what was causing the problem.

3.1.3 was the first update to directly address battery issues, stating that the fix "improves accuracy of reported battery level on iPhone 3GS." Unfortunately, it appears as though many users are still afflicted with the same battery problems, and others have it even worse.

Users on Apple forums are reporting that their battery meter makes wild jumps from 7% to 25% and back again, and that battery life is even shorter, with only 3 or 4 hours of time before needing to charge. iPod Touch users are also reporting in another thread that smart playlist syncing is not working properly with the 3.1.3 update.

Apple has yet to make a public announcement regarding the battery issues. We're sure they are working on a solution. In the meantime, we'll await the next update from Apple and report as soon as more information is available. To maximize your battery life see this list of battery tips.

3G-Enabled SlingPlayer Hits iPhone AppStore (ASPA Mobile Phone Repair, Auckland)

Wireless carrier AT&T's new policy of allowing some bandwidth-heavy iPhone applications to run over its expanded 3G network is now being put to the test. SlingPlayer Mobile allows users to stream video content from their Slingbox to iPhones anywhere 3G or Wi-Fi is available.

The previous version of SlingPlayer Mobile, first released last year, restricted streaming video to Wi-Fi only at the request of AT&T. Video quality is still better over a Wi-Fi connection, as the stream has to be optimized for 3G speeds.

Slingbox makes it possible to watch anything visible on your home television directly on the iPhone or iPod Touch. Besides changing channels, the SlingPlayer Mobile app can be used to view and control your cable or satellite box, DVR, Apple TV, Tivo, and/or security cameras.

Macworld has just reviewed SlingPlayer Mobile 1.2 and found the 3G functionality and other improvements to be a worthwhile upgrade (rated 3.5 out of 5 mice).

SlingPlayer Mobile 1.2 was released on the AppStore last week for a price of US$29.99. A Slingbox SOLO, PRO-HD, or PRO is required in addition to at least 256Kb upstream speed on your home Internet connection. Slingbox SOLO currently retails for US$179.99 and the Slingbox PRO-HD runs US$299.99.

**WARNING**
The following article is for reading and academical study only. DO NOT try to unlock or jailbreak your Iphone at home. We will NOT BE RESPONSIBLE for any damage done to your iPhone!

The latest iPhone OS 3.1.3 update doesn’t really give you any significant benefit, unless you need the improved accuracy of the reported battery level. Of course, if you did install the update, and still want to jailbreak your iPhone, you’ll be happy to know that the Dev-Team has already come up with a new version of the PwnageTool (v3.1.5 for Mac), which is compatible with the latest iPhone OS. As with any Jailbreak news, we’d strongly suggest you to backup you data in case things go awry, and read all the

Motorola MILESTONE review: Hello Droid (Mobile Phone Review, latest, tech, news, report)

Android devices come from all walks of life but rarely do they carry as much baggage as the MILESTONE. Motorola seem to be betting the farm with the MILESTONE and the warm reception it’s getting must leave them breathing a sigh of relief. Catching the Android wave may’ve seemed like the last available move but a device like the MILESTONE makes turning the tide much more likely.

So, Motorola are back with a bang and the MILESTONE is one of the best spec’d phones to ever run Android. The Google Nexus One is supposed to instill fear in nearly every touchscreen device out there but the Moto Droid must be positioned well enough by now to withstand the attack.

Key features

Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support
10.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support
3.7" 16M-color capacitive touchscreen of WVGA (480x 854 pixel) resolution
Android OS v2.0 with kinetic scrolling and pinch zooming
Slimmest side slider with full QWERTY keyboard yet
Great build quality
ARM Cortex A8 600MHz CPU, PowerVR SGX graphics accelerator; 256 MB of RAM
5 MP autofocus camera with dual-LED flash and geo-tagging
D1 (720 x 480 pixels) video recording @ 24fps
Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS
133MB storage, microSD slot, bundled 8GB card
Accelerometer and proximity sensor
Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v2.1
Main disadvantages
No DivX and XviD video playback
No smart and voice dialing
Somewhat clumsy camera interface and limited camera features
No free GPS navigation solution
No Flash support for the web browser
No FM radio

There’s hardly anything missing on the Motorola MILESTONE spec sheet so we should be ready for an exciting ride. The test-drive got us impressed: at the end of our preview we felt positive about the MILESTONE prospects. So now, the Moto DROID has a full review ahead to build on that good impression.

Considering the rate of its sales, the handset is doing well from a user point of view too. Yet, a short-lived success is just not good enough for Motorola: the company doesn’t have the resources to come up with an equally talented successor as quick as some of the competitors. So, the MILESTONE needs to stick around the top of the sales charts for at least a few months to give Motorola some breathing space.

LG GS290 Cookie Fresh (Mobile Phone, PDA, tech, news, report, Auckland)

LG GS290 is the third Cookie following the announcement of its bigger brother - the GS500 Cookie Plus. The new sweetie lowers the camera resolution and lacks 3G, but retains the cartoon UI and standard audio jack.

Last month LG announced two new Cookie handsets - the GS500 Cookie Plus and the GS290, but only revealed the specs of the Cookie Plus. Fortunately LG set that right with the today's proper announcement of the GS290 Cookie Fresh.

The specs sheet resembles the original Cookie, but the camera is downgraded to 2 megapixel resolution and there's a standard 3.5mm jack added. The rest of the features remain intact - 3-inch resistive touchscreen, Bluetooth, FM radio and microSD card slot.

The LG GS290 Cookie Fresh will be available in 10 different colors all over Europe and Asia later this month.

MWC 2010: LG overview (Mobile Phone, PDA, tech, news, report, repair, unlock)

Now there's an interesting one for you - despite being a platinum sponsor of the MWC 2010, LG aren't among the exhibitors, for … um… cost-saving reasons. They've set up their own booth just outside the Barcelona Fair. Hope it fits their austerity budget.

There were no new announcements on their part, but LG still showcased three devices that they thought were worth attention.

LG GT540

The Android powered LG GT540 was officially announced a while ago by one of their trademark three-specs-are-all-you-need-to-know press releases so its hardware is still very much an enigma.

Nor did they bother to reveal many new specs here either and chose to focus on the social network integration in the LG GT540. OK, access to Facebook on your phone is cool and their approach is pretty neat but we can't see how that's more important than - say - the CPU. But maybe it's just us.

Anyway, the handset runs decently, though nothing spectacular. The occasional lag is there but it won't bother you too much in everyday uge.

However we just couldn't quite get the idea behind the LG GT540 design. We'll say no more. That thing on the photos there is the LG GT540. No, honestly.

Google Nexus One review: Firstborn (PDA, Android, tech, news, report, review, "iPhone Repair"

All droids are equal but some droids are more equal than others. Google it. You’ll get the Nexus One. There are around 50 smartphones and tablets running Android today. That’s right, out of all the offspring they fathered with the Open Handset Alliance, Google finally have one to proudly call their own.

What does it mean? Well, not that the ones we’ve seen so far are some poor half-blood droids but the Nexus One is supposed to be THE thing. For one, it’s the first Snapdragon-powered Android and it shows. The Nexus One is wickedly fast. The WVGA touchscreen is a treat to look at and it’s only the second AMOLED display to find on an Android handset. D1 video is sure to sweeten the deal too, and perhaps so will the Live Wallpapers.

Awash in rumors well before launch, the Google Nexus One was officially revealed in January 2010 and it became available right after the unveiling event. Of course, the first units were to sell only in a very limited number of countries (UK, Singapore and Hong Kong).
Anyway Google are to start shipping their Nexus One through various carriers across Europe, starting with Vodafone this spring. That’s about the time when Verizon subscribers will be getting a CDMA version of the device. Google have a phone to sell, so it’s a fair guess they’ll be seeing to it that everyone can have it. Now, will everyone want to? Let’s see.

Key features:

Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support
7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA support
3.7" 16M-color capacitive AMOLED touchscreen of WVGA (480x 800 pixel) resolution
Android OS v2.1 with kinetic scrolling and pinch zooming
Slim profile and some great build quality
Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor
512 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM
5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and geo-tagging
D1 (720 x 480 pixels) video recording @ 24fps
Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS
microSD slot, bundled with a 4GB card
Accelerometer and proximity sensor
Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v2.1
Trackball navigation
Main disadvantages
No DivX and XviD video playback
No Flash support for the web browser (update is on the way)
No smart and voice dialing
Somewhat clumsy camera interface and limited camera features
No dedicated camera shutter key
Non hot-swappable memory card
No FM radio
The soft keys below the display are somewhat unresponsive
The Google phone has HTC fingerprints all over it. We just had the pleasure of the HTC Desire at the WMC and we quite liked what we saw. There’s no reason to expect less of the Nexus One – quite the contrary in fact, a little bit of nepotism only seems right.

The Google Nexus One won’t come with the HTC Sense of course, but who would’ve expected so! The Android 2.1 novelties will keep you busy enough anyway, but the first thing on everyone’s mind will be: Is there any special Google treatment the Nexus One is getting?
The latest of the Androids is in a way the firstborn, for all the good and the bad of it. It’s all in the name really: a name that will open doors but that carries a certain obligation too.
Will the Nexus One raise above its droid siblings or will it get lost in the crowd? That’s the kind of questions we’ll be trying to answer on the pages to come. You’re welcome to join: let’s see what the Google Nexus One is made of (and packed in, as well). Search Engine Submission - AddMe Search Engine Submission

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness review: I see through you (Mobile Phone review, preview, latest)

Luxury phones are having a tough time being unique nowadays. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness is having a hard time being… luxurious. But that’s no way to start a proper review now, is it?

There we go again then. Rare metals and precious stones are commonplace, but a transparent screen? Now, that’s a first. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness keeps only the essential phone functions and that explains the Pureness moniker. And just like a proper luxury phone, it comes with a concierge service.
|
You can access the concierge service 24/7 via a phone call or email and have them book you a hotel room, buy tickets for a game or ask for advice. But it’s not just a simple booking service – going through the concierge service has some perks, like free room upgrades in some hotels, discounts (well, well), complementary champagne and so on.

You see, the luxury of owning a Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness doesn’t just come from what’s in the phone itself. But since we’re not going to be using the concierge service anytime soon, let’s focus on what the phone has to offer:
Key features:
Quad-band GSM support
3G with HSDPA and HSUPA support
One-of-a-kind transparent greyscale display (1.8", 240 x 320 pixels), scratch-resistant surface
Very lightweight, only 70 grams
FM radio with RDS and TrackID
Bluetooth with A2DP and USB (Fast Port connector)
2 GB internal memory
Smart dialing
Excellent audio quality
Main disadvantages:
Small screen is poor on legibility
Looks cheap and poorly built
Fast Port instead of 3.5 mm audio jack means limited use as a music player
Fast 3G connectivity with HSDPA/HSUPA is only usable for tethering
No camera
Non-removable battery
Internal memory not expandable

A phone with a transparent screen is nothing short of unique. But the display certainly is a liability in terms of actually using the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness. It limits the physical space available inside the phone, leaving Sony Ericsson engineers with very little room to work with.

Plus, the low-resolution greyscale display makes a camera (even just a video call camera) and proper web browsing pointless. This leaves tethering as the only reasonable use for the fast 3G data.

Samsung S8500 Wave preview: First look (Mobile Phone Review, tech, news

Enter a new platform. With a boom. With a bang. A Bada kind of bang. Another of the big guns wants to play by their own rules. Samsung’s second spot in global market share was hard fought but it will be a while before they as much as wish the same for the Bada. They’ve been a consistent innovator over the last couple of years but getting baby Bada up and running must be quite a challenge.

The Samsung S8500 Wave is Bada’s carrier vessel and it certainly looks interesting. It seems to have the right thing to make it newsworthy: slim profile and an absolutely gorgeous screen. But is it enough to make it a success?

Over the past years new touchscreen platforms have been spreading like wildfire but not all of them have managed to catch on as well as their developers must have been hoping. Android fares well but still hasn’t quite overcome its growing pains, while the well settled Symbian platform is still coming to terms with touchscreen.

Update 05 March: We received a second Wave unit after this preview was originally published. The new sample had a properly working camera and comes with the final design of the product (some slight changes). We've updated most of this article to match the more recent device. We've replaced the photos and the screenshots plus we've added new sections on the camera and the preinstalled applications. Have a look around!

Samsung S8500 Wave at a glance:

General:GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 1900/2100 MHz, EDGE class 10, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2 Mbps
Form factor:Touchscreen bar
Dimensions:10.9 mm thin
Display:3.3" 16M-color Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution, scratch-resistant glass surface
Platform: Bada OS
CPU: 1 GHz processor
Memory: 2GB internal memory, microSD card slot
Camera: 5-megapixels auto-focus camera, 720p video recording
Connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with WPS support, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, standard microUSB port, GPS receiver with A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack
Misc: Accelerometer for screen auto rotate, proximity sensor for screen auto-turn-off, ambient light sensor, FM radio with RDS, DivX/XviD support, multi-touch input and pinch-zooming gestures
Battery: 1500 mAh battery

The S8500 Wave is among the best spec’d Samsung phones we’ve seen and it seems every aspect of the overall performance will have to pull its weight. Samsung are keen to focus attention on the young Bada OS, and that might as well bear future fruit. However, if the young platform fails to perform as expected, its shortcomings will be harder to forgive.

In the geeks' world 720p video recording and 1 GHz CPU are probably the best remedies for a few usability issues. However they rise the cost of the device and that in turn prevents some people from purchasing it. And in a market where smartphones come in all tastes and flavors you really want to get you device in as many pockets as possible.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves and make hasty conclusions. We’ll hopefully know more about how Samsung will pitch the first Bada phone to the users so let’s waste no more time. Join us after the jump for the hardware inspection.Search Engine Submission
