InPulse Blackberry Wristwatch Makes Crackberry Even More Addictive

The much-rumored inPulse - a wristwatch accessory for the Blackberry - has materialized. Now, instead of rudely checking your Blackberry every few minutes during meetings, you can instead glance at your watch, an age-old gesture of boredom guaranteed to offend everyone, young and old.

The quite lovely-looking inPulse connects to a Blackberry via Bluetooth and can either alert you to the full barrage of your very important email or can be set to filter it. These alerts are then displayed on the 1.3-inch OLED screen, and you are notified of their presence by the vibrator inside, and the whole watch, when fully charged (via microUSB), should last for around four days.

Pretty much anything that can be pushed to the Blackberry can be pushed those few inches further to your wrist. This includes RSS feeds, weather reports, SMS messages and the Twitter, guaranteeing that you can remain blissfully distracted during your next trial-by-PowerPoint. You’ll still have to pull out your crackberry to reply, but at least now you’ll know which messages to respond to.

The inPulse will be available in a limited first run “very soon” for a reasonable $150.

Tech News Report: Keep an Ear on Crime With Scanner 911 for iPhone (ASPA Mobile Phone Repair & Unlock)

You know there’s an iPhone app for just about everything when you stumble upon a piece of software you don’t completely understand. An app that got me scratching my head was Scanner 911, a live police radio scanner.

Yes, an app that listens to police officers responding to crime calls (including the really boring, trivial calls, too), and dispatchers phoning in fender benders, shootings, bar fights and so on.

Scanner 911 features an aggregated list of police radio stations, organized by state and city. For when the crime gets really juicy, there’s an option to record the audio, which you can then play back within the app. Also, a “Near Me” button displays local stations so you can stay plugged in to what’s going on in your hood. Scanner 911’s slick, clean interface makes the police-scanning experience quite fun.

Call me naive, but having never tried radio scanning in the past, I was confused about who exactly would be into this app. After polling some friends, I learned many people would find police scanners useful, such as journalists chasing hot crime scoops, parents keeping an ear on safety in their neighborhoods, or rubberneckers who are curious about why there are a whole bunch of cops parked outside a house. (Of course, we’re sure criminals would enjoy this app, too.)

Clearly, the audience for police scanners is pretty broad: Scanner 911 is currently no. 19 in the App Store, and a similar app, Police Radio, is no. 7 (though we prefer Scanner 911 for its immaculate design.) Both apps are $1 in the App Store.

Breaking: Tech News: Non-Ugly USB Card Readers (ASPA Mobile Phone Repair and Unlock, Auckland)

Elecom’s new everything-in-one memory card reader is exactly the same as every other cheap memory card reader you can buy, with on exception: it is good-looking enough that you won’t want to hide it away in a drawer when you’re done transferring files.

To this end, the Japanese company has put a magnet inside it so you can stow the reader proudly anywhere there is metal in your home. Like, for instance, erm… the refrigerator?

It might sound frivolous, but it’s a fair complaint about many computer accessories: they’re just too ugly. Elecom’s new widgets might not last much longer than the usual junk card-readers we all buy, but at least we won’t be ashamed to use them during their short lives. Available now in black and white, along with what my mother would call “hot pink” and “lime green”. ¥2,520 or $27.00

How to get paid Apple iPhone 3GS apps completely free (mobile phone power tips and tools) ASPA

You have an iPhone and we have the way to get you paid iPhone Apps completely free. To say in a simple note, we can show you the way how to get premium paid iPhone Apps for free. There is no cheating or illegal things related to it and you’ll get fully authorized versions of apps without paying for them. I hear you murmuring how the hell is that possible? Without further ado let’s jump to the point.

All you have to do is to go the FuelMyApp site and choose an app and review it. In exchange of the review you get the app for free. The developers of the apps can also make their apps available for review and they have to allow the reviewers to get the app for free. It is a simple and age-old technique of give and take policy that they are making use of.

The system is also a joy to the iPhone app developers as they can get reviews quickly at the expense of almost nothing. The reviews are expected to boost the sales of the apps which would increase their profits. This really seems to be a clever idea as no one buys apps that has not been reviewed yet.

However, there are some issues such as what if a reviewer just takes an app for a minute and does a crap review to get the free app? What if the developers only choose to give free apps to only those who make positive reviews to promote the sales of the apps? FuelMyApp indicated that they’ll have a system working from behind to address these issues.

Anyway, if you are interested to get premium apps for free hit this
link and try it.

Facebook 'memorialises' profiles. (Social, networking, group, web, surfing, internet, news, report, trend)

Facebook has announced that it will be giving friends and family the option to "memorialise" the profiles of members who have died.

It follows some cases of members receiving updates about dead friends.

If a user is reported as deceased, Facebook will remove sensitive information such as status updates and contacts.

When reporting a death, users must offer "proof" by submitting either an obituary or news article.

"When someone leaves us, they don't leave our memories or our social network," Max Kelly, head of security at the firm, wrote in the official Facebook blog. "

To reflect that reality, we created the idea of "memorialised" profiles as a place where people can save and share their memories of those who've passed."

Memorialised accounts will have new privacy settings so that only confirmed friends can see the profile or locate it in search.

Contact information and status updates will be removed and the person will no longer appear in the newly-introduced Suggestions panel which, according to its blog it is designed "to remind people to take actions with friends who need help on Facebook".

But there have been some some cases where people were 'reminded' about dead friends or relatives.

"We understand how difficult it can be for people to be reminded of those who are no longer with them, which is why it's important when someone passes away that their friends or family contact Facebook to request that a profile be memorialised," Mr Kelly wrote in his blog.

In separate news, Facebook has once again been targeted by cybercriminals.

Security firm Websense has reported thousands of fake messages, purporting to come from Facebook Support, with a malicious payload.

The fake message invites users to download a new password as part of ongoing security messages.

If users click on it it will download a piece of software which could allow their machine to be taken over by malicious hackers.

In one day, Websense has seen 90,000 such messages.

Universal phone charger approved, 2009. ASPA Mobile Phone Repair and Unlock, Auckland

A new mobile phone charger that will work with any handset has been approved by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations body.

Industry body the GSMA says that 51,000 tonnes of redundant chargers are generated each year.

Currently most chargers are product or brand specific, so people tend to change them when they upgrade to a new phone.

However, the new energy-efficient chargers can be kept for much longer.

The GSMA also estimates that they will reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by 13.6m tonnes.

"This is a significant step in reducing the environmental impact of mobile charging," said Malcolm Johnson, director of ITU's Telecommunication Standardisation Bureau.

"Universal chargers are a common-sense solution that I look forward to seeing in other areas."

The charger has a micro-USB port at the connecting end, using similar technology to digital cameras.

It is not compulsory for manufacturers to adopt the new chargers but the ITU says that some have already signed up to it.

"We are planning to launch the universal charger internationally during the first half of 2010," Aldo Liguori, spokesperson for Sony Ericsson told the BBC.

"We will roll it out with new products as they launch."

One in a Million Story: Man hits lottery twice in one day (ASPA Mobile Phone Repair & Unlock, Auckland)

Jul 26, 2009, By John Moss

Fall River —When Phillip Brunelle won $1,000 on a Massachusetts State Lottery ticket, little did he know that would be just the beginning of his good fortune early Sunday morning.

The 29-year-old professional photographer of this city bought the ticket about 2 a.m. from the 24-hour Tedeschi convenience store on East Main Street, along with several other items.

When he got home, he forgot about the Billion Dollar Bonanza scratch ticket at the bottom of the bag and almost threw it away.

After scratching it and realizing he won $1,000, he awoke his partner, Jeffrey Brunelle.

“I just needed to tell someone,” he said.

He then returned to the store to report his winning status.

While there, he figured he'd shell out $20 for a $1,000,000 Money Mania scratch ticket. After all, he had just won $1,000.

“It’s not going to hurt my wallet,” he said.

When he scratched the ticket with his “lucky penny,” low and behold, he had won again — this time for the amount for which the game is named — $1 million.

“I was excited about $1,000,” he said. “This was unbelievable.”

Another customer, Lisa Reynolds, told The Herald News that after he scratched the second ticket, “He started breathing really heavy and kept saying 'no way ... no way ... no way!'"

She said another patron asked him if he won another $1,000, and he replied, “No, I think I just won even more, I think I won a million dollars.”

Reynolds said she and the customer approached Brunelle and verified that the numbers matched and the prize was $1 million.

“I didn’t even sleep last night,” Brunelle reported from his home Sunday afternoon.

Asked what he intended to do with the money, he replied, “Obviously, family comes first.”

So he plans on helping his 49-year-old mother, Linda Daggett of Brockton, who has cerebral palsy. Her car broke down several months ago and, being on a fixed income, she is unable to afford another one, he said.

“I’m going to try to help her out, get her a new car or newer car, so she does not have to depend on everyone else to do everything for her,” he said. “So she can have some dignity. Without her, I wouldn’t be here.”

Brunelle is a self-employed professional photographer who primarily shoots weddings.

He said he would not quit his job because he loves it so much.

“Now, I’ll consider opening a studio or two locally,” he said. “I want to get my name established out there.”

That was something he certainly accomplished Sunday. Video and print media from throughout the region were calling him for his story.

At Tedeschi's, two signs hang over the counter, telling customers that he is a $1,000 and $1 million lottery ticket winner.

Brunelle grew up in Middleboro and graduated from Middleboro High School. He moved to this area about 10 years ago, attracted by the inexpensive rental rates, he said.

He has a photo journalism degree from New England School of Photography.

He worked for the Hilton Hotel chain as a corporate sales manager before suffering a serious back injury from an accident in which a section of concrete fell on him at a home.

That was a time of misfortune. On Sunday, Phillip Brunelle was basking in good fortune.

3G Nokia 6600i Slide Review: You Slide and I Slide (ASPA Mobile Phone Repair & Unlock, Auckland)

Introduction

A while back Nokia released the 6600 pair - the slide and the fold - which we fell for, big time. The seemingly more popular sibling got an update and the 6600i slide will keep on cashing in. Slightly revamped, it brings a beefier camera and a new paintjob to boot.

Looks have changed just a bit and we honestly think they did itright. The consciously minimalist design of the original didn't leave much room for frills anyway. Alright, the 6600i slide is a no-frills package overall, but don't go saying we didn't warn you. It's enjoyable and addictive.

Key features:

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, dual-band UMTS

2.2" 16M-color QVGA display

5 megapixel camera, autofocus and LED flash

VGA video recording at 15fps

S40 user interface, 5th edition

Bluetooth (with A2DP)

Stereo FM radio with RDS

microSD card slot (up to 16 GB), 1GB included

Ovi Maps for S40 come preinstalled

Ovi Contacts, Share on Ovi, YouTube, MySpace and Facebook applications preinstalled

Really compact and extra smooth metal body

Sweet oval shapes and neat slider design

Accelerometer for tap-for-time and tap-to-mute

Main disadvantages:

No HSDPA

Display brightness is quite low

Poor browser and no Opera Mini preinstalled

Memory card slot under the battery, no hot-swap

No dedicated shutter key

Below par camera quality

No 3.5 mm audio jack or a two-piece headset in the box

No smart dialing

No multi-tasking, especially uncomfortable in Ovi Contacts and the social networking applications

No office document viewer

Loudspeaker loudness is only marginally improved

No need to tell you, the "i" in any Nokia model designation is there to save face. It's like Nokia saying: here's a phone that sells big, so be our guest - keep on buying it. It's more of a relaunch than an update. And we're not pointing fingers here - if you have a massive seller the first thing on your mind would be to keep it rolling.

Just remember the 6300 - it did wonders for the Finns, so the 6300i followed in due course. Yes, it added Wi-Fi to its predecessor's feature set but that can really be seen as an exception and was meant for select markets only. And by the way, Nokia might have a point. The 3G-enabled 6600 slide can do without WLAN and a better camera will perhaps serve its market better.

Anyway, "i" models are incremental updates - they build on the previous device rather than turn it into something completely new. In that sense, the last people to be viewed as potential customers are current 6600 slide owners. If we were to upgrade from Nokia 6600 slide, we'd probably be considering Symbian - or maybe an all-in-one feature phone like the 6260 slide.

Accordingly, the real job of the 6600i slide is to pick up the customers the original missed and serve the Nokia midrange more in keeping with the time.
